Both Great Leaders Were Two Links of the Same Social Consciousness, Considered Education the Foundation of Social Reform: CM

Chandigarh, April 24 – Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said the government is fully committed to carrying forward the thoughts and ideals of Baba Saheb Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar and Mahatma Jyotiba Phule. We should learn from Baba Saheb’s life how to achieve success even in difficult circumstances and draw inspiration for social service from the life of Jyotiba Phule.

Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini was addressing the Jyotiba Phule and Baba Saheb Dr. BR Ambedkar Jayanti celebration organized by employees and officers’ organizations at the Haryana Civil Secretariat complex.

The Chief Minister said that by following the path shown by these two great personalities, the double-engine government in Haryana, under the guidance of the Prime Minister, has implemented several schemes and policies for the upliftment of every section of society and is working for the welfare of the poor.

He said we should not limit the thoughts of these great personalities only to books, but should also implement them in our conduct and policies to address social challenges such as inequality in education, social discrimination, and economic disparity. Solutions to all these issues can be found only by following the path shown by these great leaders.

Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that whenever we reflect on the work and thoughts of these two great personalities, we find that the work left incomplete by Mahatma Phule was not only taken forward by Dr. Ambedkar but was also brought to completion through constitutional provisions. In this way, both these great leaders are two links of the same social consciousness.

The Chief Minister said that Mahatma Jyotiba Phule and Bharat Ratna Baba Saheb Dr. BR Ambedkar dedicated their entire lives to the upliftment of those sections of society that had remained neglected and deprived for centuries. That is why both are regarded as the voice of the oppressed and marginalized people.

He said that in the 19th century, Mahatma Jyotiba Phule made education the most powerful weapon to eliminate the darkness of untouchability, ignorance, and superstition. He not only chose the path of self-education but also performed the great task of connecting women and deprived sections of society with education. Along with his wife, Smt. Savitribai Phule, he started India’s first girls’ school, which was a revolutionary step at that time.

The Chief Minister said that similarly, Baba Saheb Dr. BR Ambedkar made education, equality, and justice the core principles of his life. He gave the slogan, “Educate, Organize and Agitate.” This was not merely a slogan but a declaration of social transformation. Baba Saheb faced many hardships in his life but never deviated from his purpose. By drafting the Constitution of India, he gave the country a strong democratic framework that ensured equal rights and equal opportunities for every citizen.

The Chief Minister said that there is remarkable similarity in the thoughts of Mahatma Phule and Baba Saheb. Both fought against caste discrimination, untouchability, inequality, injustice, and exploitation. Both considered education as the foundation of social reform. Both raised their voices against the social discrimination faced by Dalit communities at that time. Both dreamed of an India where every person would receive respect and equal opportunities.

Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that Baba Saheb and Jyotiba Phule were not only dedicated to the upliftment of deprived sections but were equally committed to improving the condition of women. In the field of social reform and from the perspective of family peace and harmony, they considered both men and women equal. They were strong supporters of women’s education and believed that education alone could make women self-reliant.

The Chief Minister said that Mahatma Phule challenged the social evils prevalent in society, while Baba Saheb created a strong constitutional framework to eliminate them. He said that just as Baba Saheb followed the mission of Jyotiba Phule, the present government is also working rapidly by following the path shown by Baba Saheb. The schemes brought by Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi for poor families reflect the thoughts of Baba Saheb. Under the Prime Minister’s leadership, the government is working to empower the last person in the queue. In this way, the country is progressing rapidly and development is reaching every section.

Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that under the Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana, 1.60 lakh houses have been provided to ensure shelter for every person. In addition, plots of 100 square yards and 30 square yards have also been allotted. The Chief Minister assured sympathetic consideration of the demands raised by the employees’ association.

Development and Panchayats Minister Sh. Krishan Lal Panwar, while addressing the ceremony, said that democracy in the country functions through the Constitution framed by Baba Saheb and poor families are receiving complete justice under the present government. Baba Saheb had said that a person can progress only by becoming educated; therefore, special emphasis should be laid on education.

He said that Baba Saheb introduced the Hindu Code Bill for the dignity of women, but when the bill was not passed in Parliament, he resigned from the post of Law Minister. Baba Saheb was a strong advocate of women’s dignity and rights.
