Chandigarh, April 30 – Member Secretary, Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB), Sh. Yogesh Kumar, on Thursday inspected Leg-3 Drain (Badshahpur Drain), the Common Biomedical Waste Treatment Facility, and the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram (MCG) C&D waste processing site.
During the inspection, he visited different locations, identified sources of pollution, and reviewed the measures being taken to stop the flow of polluted water into the drain to ensure their effectiveness.
The Member Secretary directed the concerned officers to submit an Action Taken Report (ATR) on the pollution sources that have not yet been tapped. He asked for priority action, especially on sources linked to colonies in the MCG area. He also directed to speed up the process of sewerage diversion and treatment so that sewage flow into the drain can be stopped.
He appealed to RWAs and the general public not to discharge domestic sewage into drains or dispose of it in nearby water bodies through tankers, as it increases water pollution and harms the environment.
He further directed that all agencies should work together in coordination to control pollution in the drain and ensure strict compliance with environmental norms.
He also inspected the Common Biomedical Waste Treatment Facility. He reviewed the functioning of the plant and directed the operator to provide details of all healthcare institutions with valid agreements. He also asked for complete records of biomedical waste received and disposed of at the plant.
He also inspected the C&D Waste Processing Site. Necessary directions were given to the plant operator, and officers were directed to carry out regular inspections and submit monthly reports to ensure that the plant operates as per environmental standards.
XEN, GMDA and Nodal Officer, Sh. Vikram, CEE, HSPCB, Sh. Bhupinder Rinwa, CEE Sh. Balraj Ahlawat, SEE, Sh. Sanjeev Budhiraja, and RO, HSPCB Gurugram (South) Sh. Siddharth Bhargava were also present during the inspection.
