Chandigarh, June 27- Union Minister for Power and Housing & Urban Affairs, Sh. Manohar Lal on Saturday formally unveiled the reinstalled statue of former Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dr Mangal Sen at the Dr Mangal Sen Auditorium complex in Karnal. Paying floral tributes to the veteran leader, he remembered his immense contribution to public.
Addressing the gathering, Sh. Manohar Lal said Dr Mangal Sen remained associated with the organisation from the days of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh until the formation of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He represented Rohtak in the Haryana Assembly seven times and also served as the state’s Deputy Chief Minister. Born on October 27, 1927, in Sargodha, Dr Mangal Sen was known for his exceptional ability to nurture and guide party workers.
Recalling his personal association with the veteran leader, Sh. Manohar Lal said he had remained in close contact with Dr Mangal Sen between 1981 and 1984 while working in Rohtak. He described him as a candid mentor who openly discussed the principles that should guide political life, the mistakes leaders must avoid, and the values necessary to build and sustain a strong organisation.
He said Dr Mangal Sen was a leader admired across all sections of society who set enduring benchmarks of dignity and decorum in politics. Despite political differences, he maintained cordial and cooperative relations with leaders across party lines. Manohar Lal said leaders such as Chaudhary Devi Lal, Dr Mangal Sen and Parkash Singh Badal established exemplary standards in public life that continue to inspire future generations.
Notably, the statue had earlier been installed at a different location within the auditorium complex and has now been relocated and reinstalled.
A large number of public representatives, administrative officers and eminent citizens attended the ceremony. Union Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal and other dignitaries paid floral tributes to Dr Mangal Sen and recalled his commitment to public welfare and his distinguished political journey.
