Chandigarh, February 7: Haryana Industries and Commerce Minister Rao Narbir Singh described the Union Budget 2026–27 as a historic and unprecedented step towards building a Viksit Bharat (Developed India) and Atmanirbhar Bharat under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Cabinet Minister was addressing a farmers’ conference organized in village Darbaripur of Badshahpur Assembly constituency in Gurugram regarding the Union Budget 2026.
The Minister said that the budget has been prepared keeping in mind all sections of society, especially villages, the poor, farmers, youth, and women. He added that poverty is continuously declining in the country due to the welfare schemes being implemented under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and this budget is extremely significant in making the poor self-reliant.
He stated that the budget of the Rural Development Department has been increased by 21 percent this year. If the combined allocation for Rural Development and the Agriculture Ministry is considered, their joint budget has now crossed ₹4,35,779 crore, reflecting the government’s strong commitment towards villages and farmers.
He further said that the Agriculture Department’s budget has been increased to ₹1,32,561 crore this year. A provision of ₹9,967 crore has been made for agricultural education and research, particularly for ICAR, which will promote innovation and modern technologies.
He added that to ensure availability of affordable fertilizers to farmers, a provision of ₹1,70,944 crore has been made for fertilizer subsidy, which will reduce the cost of farming and directly benefit farmers.
He said that Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini held direct meetings with stakeholders across various districts of the state in January 2026 to seek suggestions regarding the budget, which will be reviewed and incorporated accordingly.
He added that this budget will provide new opportunities to youth, an empowering platform to women, and renewed strength to make farmers self-reliant. On the occasion, he expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and the entire Union Government, stating that this budget will prove to be a milestone in making India self-reliant and developed.
