Chandigarh, April 24 – Haryana Roadways is committed to providing safe, accessible, and timely transport facilities to passengers across the state. Operating through its 24 depots and 13 sub-depots, Haryana Roadways runs approximately 4,108 buses, covering nearly 11.38 lakh kilometers daily and providing travel facilities to around 6.03 lakh passengers every day.
A department spokesperson said along with ensuring safe and convenient travel for the people of the state, Haryana Roadways also aims to fulfill its social responsibilities and effectively implement the welfare measures provided by the government for the benefit of the public.
While implementing the responsibilities assigned by the government, Haryana Roadways has provided free or concessional travel facilities to nearly 40 categories of passengers across the state.
In the year 2007, the government had provided free travel facility within Haryana State to 100 percent ‘Divyang’ (differently-abled) persons in Haryana Roadways buses, along with one attendant. In the year 2010, this facility was extended to Chandigarh and Delhi as well.
‘Divyang’ persons in the state had been demanding that those with less than 100 percent disability should also be provided free travel facility in ordinary buses of Haryana Roadways.
Keeping this demand in view, the government has now extended free travel facility in ordinary Haryana Roadways buses to ‘Divyang’ persons with disabilities ranging from 40 percent to 99 percent as well.
In this regard, after consultation with the Finance Department, the Administrative Secretary of State Transport Department issued the notification on April 24, 2026.
Approximately 1.22 lakh ‘Divyang’ persons in the state will benefit from this decision.
