Chandigarh, May 10 – Haryana Energy, Transport and Labour Minister, Sh. Anil Vij paid tribute to the martyrs on the occasion of May 10, 1857, the day when the First War of Independence began. He said that the largest martyr memorial dedicated to the heroes of the 1857 uprising has been constructed in Ambala Cantonment, which will soon be inaugurated by Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi.
Sharing this information Sh. Vij said that on May 10, the First War of Independence began in 1857. Armed struggles took place across the country against the British, and countless sons of Mother India sacrificed their lives. To honour them, Asia’s largest martyr memorial has been built in Ambala Cantonment, which will soon be inaugurated by Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi.
Notably, the martyr memorial in Ambala Cantonment has been constructed at a cost of approximately Rs. 700 crore in memory of the brave martyrs of the First War of Independence of 1857. The memorial has now been completed and will showcase the complete history of the 1857 uprising through various mediums.
A 63-meter-high lotus-shaped memorial tower has also been constructed within the complex, where a light and sound show will be presented during the night. Directly in front of the memorial tower, a grand gallery with seating capacity for 2,000 people has also been built.
