Chandigarh, May 16 – Haryana Education Minister, Sh. Mahipal Dhanda said that in the age of modernisation, many of our old traditions were gradually becoming weak and disappearing, but the Jat Samaj Vikas Samiti has taken the responsibility of reviving them. He said that through chaupais and nagadas, the youth are being connected with their culture, values and history, which will inspire future generations.
The Minister was addressing as the Chief guest a two-day Chaupai Mahakumbh programme organised by the Jat Samaj Vikas Samiti at Palwal on Saturday. The programme was presided over by the Minister of State for Sports, Sh. Gaurav Gautam.
Education Minister, Sh. Mahipal Dhanda said that the Chaupai Mahakumbh is a commendable effort to keep the culture and traditions of the Brij region alive through chaupais, jikri, rasiya and nagadas. He said that old traditions prepared society to face every situation with courage and inspiration. Such traditions should not disappear but should be strengthened further.
The Minister announced Rs. 11 lakh for the development of the Jat Dharamshala and also announced the establishment of a modern library there.
The Education Minister said that in 2013-14, the Class 10 result in government schools was around 48 percent, while the Class 12 result was around 53 percent. He said the present state government continuously improved the education system, due to which the results of government schools have now crossed 70 percent. Better results have boosted the confidence of both teachers and students.
He said this achievement is the result of the hard work of teachers in government schools and their efforts to provide quality education to students.
Chaupais keeping history and brotherhood alive: Minister Gaurav Gautam
Minister of state for Sports, Sh. Gaurav Gautam said that the Chaupai Mahamela of Palwal is a unique event which spreads the message of brotherhood among all communities through chaupais and nagadas. He said that through chaupais, the youth are being made aware of the glorious history of the region and the struggles of great personalities such as Dada Kanha Rawat, Maharaja Surajmal and Raja Nahar Singh.
The Sports Minister also announced Rs. 21 lakh for the development of the Jat Dharamshala.
