Transfers of Officials and Employees Engaged in Census Put on Hold, No Transfers Till March 31, 2027

Chandigarh, April 17: The Haryana Government has decided to impose a ban on the transfer or posting of officers and employees associated with Census-2027 work till March 31, 2027, to ensure the smooth conduct of the census exercise.

Necessary directions in this regard have been issued to all concerned departments by Chief Secretary Sh. Anurag Rastogi.

As per the State Government’s decision, officers and employees deployed for Census-2027 or those directly under its administrative control will not be transferred till March 31, 2027.

The order will be applicable to IAS/HCS officers, Tehsildars, Naib Tehsildars, District Revenue Officers, and officials of the Education Department, Urban Local Bodies Department, Economic and Statistical Department, and Information, Public Relations and Languages Department.

The State Government has directed that these orders be communicated to all concerned officers and employees and ensured strict compliance.

It is noteworthy that officials have been appointed at various levels for the census exercise. Divisional Commissioners have been designated as Divisional Census Officers, Deputy Commissioners as Principal Census Officers, while Additional Deputy Commissioners and City Magistrates have been appointed as Additional District Census Officers.

At the district level, District Statistical Officers, District Planning Officers, District Education Officers, District Elementary Education Officers, District Revenue Officers, and District Information Officers have been designated as Sub-District Census Officers.

At the sub-division level, Sub-Divisional Officers (Civil)/Sub-Divisional Magistrates have been appointed as Sub-Divisional Census Officers, Tehsildars as Charge Census Officers, and Naib Tehsildars as Assistant Charge Census Officers.

In urban local body areas, Municipal Corporation Commissioners have been designated as Principal Census Officers, Additional Commissioners and District Municipal Commissioners as City Census Officers, while Chief Executive Officers, Executive Officers, and Secretaries of Municipal Councils/Committees have been assigned the responsibility of Charge Census Officers.
