Chandigarh, May 12 – Haryana Transport Minister, Sh. Anil Vij said that the State Transport Department will soon procure 1,000 new buses, including 500 electric buses and 500 ordinary buses. He said that the government’s objective is to modernise the public transport system in the state and make it safer, environment-friendly, and more convenient for passengers.
Sh. Vij was responding to questions from media personnel here in Chandigarh today.
He informed that all buses of the Transport Department will be equipped with an advanced tracking system, enabling real-time monitoring of buses. In addition, digital display boards, similar to those at airports, will be installed at bus stands so that passengers can receive accurate information regarding bus arrivals and departures in a timely manner.
The Transport minister further said that a modern mobile application is also being developed for the convenience of passengers. Through this app, commuters will be able to access complete information regarding bus location, schedule, and routes directly on their mobile phones, helping them plan their journeys more efficiently.
Sh. Vij said that the new technology will also monitor whether buses are operating on their designated routes. If any driver diverts a bus from the approved route or fails to bring it to the designated bus stand, the system will immediately generate an alert, and an automatic explanation will be sought from the concerned driver. This will ensure greater transparency and accountability in the transport system.
He added that he has personally reviewed the trial of this modern system and that it will soon be launched as a pilot project in one district before being implemented across the state in a phased manner.
Sh. Vij said that the Haryana Government is continuously working to integrate technology with transport services to provide passengers with a better, safer, and more convenient travel experience.
