Chandigarh, June 16- Haryana Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Sh. Shyam Singh Rana has directed all Agricultural Development Officers to ensure the proper distribution of chemical fertilisers for the Kharif crops in their respective areas so that farmers across the state do not face any shortage of fertilisers.
He said that 60 percent of the fertiliser supply would be sent to PACS through HAFED. Any negligence in implementing this arrangement would result in strict action against the concerned officials. He also warned that those involved in hoarding or black marketing of fertilisers would face strict legal action by the administration.
The Minister was addressing agricultural officers from all districts of the state today through a video conference in Chandigarh to review fertiliser distribution for Kharif crops, the ‘Khet Bachao Abhiyan’, and the progress of natural farming initiatives. Additional Chief Secretary, Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Department, Sh. Vijayendra Kumar, Director General, Rajnarayan Kaushik, and several other senior officers also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, the Minister conducted a detailed district-wise review of the availability and distribution of urea, DAP, and other chemical fertilizers. He directed officers to closely monitor private fertilizer dealers operating in their areas and ensure that fertilizers are not misused under any circumstances. Expressing concern over instances of fertilizer consumption exceeding prescribed levels in certain districts, he sought explanations from the concerned officers.
Keeping farmers’ convenience in mind, Sh. Shyam Singh Rana directed officers to ensure the timely supply of fertilizers to village-level Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS), enabling farmers to access fertilizers easily near their homes.
To effectively curb black marketing, the Minister directed that fertilizer distribution should be carried out strictly on the basis of land records registered on the “Meri Fasal Mera Byora” portal. He said that this would prevent non-farmers from misusing the system. He also clarified that private dealers must not compel farmers to purchase unnecessary products along with fertilizers. To prevent such practices, Agricultural Development Officers were directed to conduct regular inspections and surprise checks.
The Minister also reviewed the progress of the ‘Khet Bachao Abhiyan’ and “Natural Farming” campaigns being implemented in line with the vision of Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi and Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini.
He urged officers to engage directly with farmers and educate them about the benefits of organic manure prepared from indigenous cow dung. Referring to the farmer awareness camps being organised under these initiatives, he directed officers to achieve all assigned targets by June 30, 2026.
Sh. Shyam Singh Rana further said that officers should continuously motivate farmers to adopt natural farming practices to reduce excessive dependence on chemical fertilisers. He emphasised that natural farming not only improves the quality and purity of agricultural produce but also helps protect the public from serious health problems associated with excessive chemical use in agriculture.
