Chandigarh, June 14: Haryana’s Minister for Cooperation, Prisons, Elections, Heritage and Tourism Dr. Arvind Sharma said under the leadership of Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi, India is moving forward today with confidence, self-reliance and national pride. He stated that this Amrit Kaal period will pave the way for India to emerge as a leading global power and a Vishwaguru in the coming years. He added that the vision of a Viksit Bharat is not merely a government campaign but a national resolve of 1.4 billion citizens.
Addressing a press conference in Gohana on Sunday to mark 12 years of the Narendra Modi-led government, Dr. Arvind Sharma presented a detailed report card of the country’s achievements. He said that during the last 12 years, India has not only witnessed development but has also established a new identity on the global stage. This period, he said, will be recorded in history as a golden era of service, good governance, security, self-reliance and welfare of the poor. For only the second time since Independence, the people of India have given a clear mandate to the same government for a third consecutive term, reaffirming their faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
He said that the Modi Government has taken several decisions that had remained subjects of discussion for decades. The abrogation of Article 370 and Article 35A in Jammu and Kashmir, surgical strikes, air strikes, One Rank One Pension (OROP), the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), and the introduction of new criminal laws have demonstrated the strength and resolve of a New India before the world.
The Cabinet Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi placed welfare of the poor at the centre of governance. Over the past 12 years, more than 25 crore people have been lifted out of poverty. More than 4 crore poor families have received permanent houses, while nearly 11 crore women have been provided free LPG connections under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, freeing them from smoke-filled kitchens. Through the Ayushman Bharat scheme, nearly 60 crore people have been provided health coverage under what is considered the world’s largest health insurance programme.
He further said that the Jan Dhan-Aadhaar-Mobile (JAM) trinity and Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) have brought revolutionary changes to governance. More than 58 crore Jan Dhan accounts have been opened to promote financial inclusion, and over ₹51 lakh crore has been transferred directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts. This has significantly curbed corruption and the culture of middlemen.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to youth, Dr. Sharma said that initiatives such as Startup India, Skill India, Digital India and Make in India have transformed India into a global hub of innovation and entrepreneurship. Loans exceeding ₹40 lakh crore have been disbursed under the Mudra Yojana, with a majority of beneficiaries being women. Through employment fairs, lakhs of young people have secured government jobs through transparent and merit-based recruitment processes.
Describing women’s empowerment as one of the Modi Government’s greatest achievements, Dr. Sharma said that initiatives such as the Lakhpati Didi campaign, Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana, expansion of Self-Help Groups and the increasing participation of women in defence services have given a new identity and strength to women across the country.
Referring to developments in the agricultural sector, Dr. Arvind Sharma said that under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, lakhs of crores of rupees have been directly transferred into farmers’ bank accounts. He further stated that India has witnessed an unprecedented infrastructure revolution under the leadership of the Modi Government.
He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini, the state has emerged as a model of development and good governance. Procurement of 24 crops at Minimum Support Price (MSP), installation of 1.93 lakh solar tubewells, 24-hour electricity supply, housing for the poor, financial assistance for women, labour welfare schemes and pilgrimage programmes are bringing positive changes in the lives of ordinary citizens. He added that Haryana has witnessed unprecedented expansion of national highways and connectivity networks, giving a fresh boost to development.
Among those present on the occasion were Dr. Rita Sharma, Gohana Market Committee Chairman Krishan Saini, BJP District General Secretary Mahender Chirana, Mandal President Bhupender Mudgil, Mandal President Praveen Khurana, and Bijender Khichchi.
