Chandigarh, April 24 – The Haryana Government has approved the expansion of free dialysis services to Maharishi Chyawan Government Medical Colleges, Koriyawas, Narnaul and Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government Medical College, Chhainsa, Faridabad translating a key Budget announcement into time-bound action on the ground.
Additional Chief Secretary, Health and Family Welfare & Medical Education and Research Department, Dr. Sumita Misra, has issued directions to Government Medical Colleges at Chhainsa and Koriyawas to commence dialysis services under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode within the next two weeks. The move is aimed at ensuring that critical kidney care services become available to patients without delay.
Since the launch of free dialysis services in government hospitals on October 18, 2024, the State has conducted over 2.60 lakh dialysis sessions across 22 institutions, incurring an expenditure of over Rs. 57 crore. The initiative has provided substantial financial relief to patients requiring regular dialysis, a treatment that is both costly and lifelong in nature.
The expansion follows the announcement made by Chief Minister, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini in the Budget Speech on March 2, 2026, proposing the establishment of 18 new dialysis centres at Government Medical Colleges and Sub-Divisional Hospitals. Institutions such as Maharishi Chyawan Government Medical Colleges, Koriyawas, Narnaul and Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government Medical College, Chhainsa, Faridabad are among those identified to strengthen the network of services.
At present, dialysis services are operational under PPP mode at key institutions including PGIMS Rohtak, SHKM Government Medical College Nalhar, BPS Government Medical College Khanpur Kalan (Sonipat), and Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College, Karnal. These centres have been instrumental in delivering reliable and quality care to patients.
The ongoing expansion is expected to significantly reduce travel distance and waiting time for patients, particularly those from rural and semi-urban areas. By bringing services closer to communities, the State aims to ease both the physical and financial burden on families dependent on regular dialysis.
