Power System Returning to Normal in Haryana After Storm; Restoration Work Continuing Rapidly in Remaining Areas – Anil Vij

Chandigarh, June 13 – Haryana Energy Minister Sh. Anil Vij has taken cognizance of the disruption caused to the power distribution system due to the recent storm and strong winds across the state. He has directed officials to restore electricity supply in all affected areas on a war footing and ensure that relief reaches consumers in the shortest possible time. He said that the department has launched a large-scale special drive to normalize the power system at the earliest.

Sh. Vij said that due to the severe storm and high winds, a total of 13,277 electricity poles were damaged or uprooted in various districts of the state. Restoration and reinstallation work is progressing rapidly. Of these, 2,791 poles belong to the Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (UHBVN) and 10,486 poles to the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN).

He further informed that special teams comprising 1,552 personnel have been deployed to restore power supply in the affected areas as quickly as possible. These include 620 employees of UHBVN and 932 employees and technical staff of DHBVN, who are working day and night in the field to repair power lines, transformers, and other electrical infrastructure.

The Energy Minister said that the storm affected electricity supply in 233 villages across the state, including 32 villages under UHBVN and 201 villages under DHBVN. Similarly, 842 feeders were impacted, comprising 458 feeders of UHBVN and 384 feeders of DHBVN.

Sh. Vij said that although the natural calamity and storm disrupted power supply at several locations, the prompt response of the department and the dedicated efforts of field staff have enabled restoration of electricity in most affected areas. Work is continuing at a rapid pace in the remaining locations, and the department is committed to ensuring uninterrupted power supply to all consumers at the earliest.

He emphasized that the State Government and the Energy Department remain fully committed to providing reliable and uninterrupted power services to the people. He has instructed departmental officers to continuously monitor restoration work and ensure the availability of additional resources wherever required so that there is no delay in restoring electricity supply.

Appealing to the public, Sh. Vij urged residents to remain patient during this period and avoid going near damaged power lines or fallen electricity poles. He advised consumers to immediately report any electricity-related issues to the concerned power office or complaint center so that timely action can be taken.

Sh. Anil Vij added that officers and employees of the department are working with complete dedication and commitment even under challenging conditions, and every possible effort is being made to fully restore normal power supply across Haryana.
