Chief Minister inspects wheat procurement process at Pipli Grain Market
Farmers urged to apply on Kshatipurti portal by April 15 for crop loss claims
Chandigarh, April 13 — Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that wheat procurement operations across all mandis and procurement centres in the state are running smoothly and continuously without any disruption. He assured that farmers are not facing any difficulties and that every single grain of their produce will be procured.
He informed that during the Rabi procurement season 2026–27, about 39.65 lakh metric tonnes of wheat arrivals have been recorded till April 12. Biometric verification has been completed for around 2.44 lakh farmers for approximately 30.90 lakh metric tonnes of wheat. So far, 10.92 lakh metric tonnes of wheat has been procured, and nearly Rs 188 crore has been directly transferred into farmers’ bank accounts.
On Monday, the Chief Minister inspected the wheat procurement process at Pipli Grain Market, Kurukshetra. He reviewed the gate pass issuance system at the mandi entrance, assessed procurement arrangements, and interacted with farmers to understand the issues faced during the sale of wheat. Wheat procurement began on April 1, and the Government of India has fixed the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for wheat at Rs. 2,585 per quintal. For procurement, 416 mandis and procurement centres have been set up in the state, along with 264 additional procurement locations.
The Chief Minister said that the state government has introduced several new initiatives to make the procurement system more transparent, secure, and farmer-friendly. These measures will enhance transparency, curb unauthorized activities, and ensure faster and more convenient services for farmers. He added that a three-tier crop verification system has been made mandatory, under which the produce brought to procurement centres is being matched with the crop registered by the farmer, making the verification process more accurate and reliable.
He further stated that reports of crop damage due to unseasonal rainfall have been received from certain villages in four districts—Fatehabad, Hisar, Sirsa, and Kurukshetra. He personally spoke to the Deputy Commissioners of the concerned districts to assess the situation. A compensation portal has been opened for affected areas, including 6 villages in Kurukshetra, 9 in Fatehabad, 10 in Hisar, and 2 in Sirsa. He appealed to farmers to apply on the portal by April 15 for compensation claims related to crop loss.
On this occasion, former Minister Sh. Subhash Sudha, Chairman Satish Mathana, Mandi President Gurudatt Sharma, Market Committee Secretary Gurmeet Saini, and other dignitaries were present.
