Chandigarh, May 2 — Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said following the teachings of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Ji, the state government is committed to making Haryana educated, healthy, safe and self-reliant.
Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini was addressing a programme organized in Rewari on Saturday on the occasion of the 200th birth anniversary of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Ji.
He said that the life and thoughts of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Ji are a guiding force for all of us. We must walk on the path shown by him and build a society based on equality, justice, and brotherhood. Today’s function is a celebration of that great vision of social awareness, education, and equality, which Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Ji made the mission of his life.
He said that Rewari has held special importance since medieval times. We all know that India’s last Hindu emperor, Hemu, was also associated with this city. He won 22 battles against the Mughals. Not only this, Rewari was also a major centre during the First War of Independence in 1857. The ruler here, Rao Tula Ram Ji, fought bravely against the British.
The Chief Minister said that history is witness that whenever society was engulfed in darkness, great personalities showed new light through their thoughts and actions. Mahatma Phule Ji was one such great personality. He gave a new direction to society at a time when the country was shackled under British rule.
He strongly fought against social evils and rigid customs prevailing in society. His struggle against child marriage, untouchability, caste discrimination, and women’s illiteracy took the form of a social revolution.
The greatest contribution of Mahatma Phule Ji was in the field of education. He believed that real change in society was possible only when the light of education reached every household. With this vision, along with his wife Savitribai Phule Ji, he established the country’s first girls’ school. That school was like a lamp lit against social darkness, which continues to illuminate the future of millions of daughters even today.
Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that today, under the leadership of Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi Ji, campaigns like Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao are being run, which are an extension of Mahatma Phule Ji’s vision.
His dream was of an India where every person gets respect, everyone gets equal opportunities to move forward, and no one faces discrimination because of caste, class, or identity.
The Chief Minister said that during the Assembly elections, the state government had made 217 commitments, and work is progressing rapidly on all of them.
The state government has launched the Deendayal Lado Lakshmi Yojana for women. Its annual budget has been increased from Rs. 5,000 crore to Rs. 6,500 crore so that more and more women can benefit from the scheme.
The government is purchasing all crops at MSP, which is a strong example of the BJP government’s farmer-friendly approach. Similarly, the old-age honour pension has been increased to Rs. 3,200, making it the highest pension in the country.
The Chief Minister received a grand welcome on reaching the programme venue.
On this occasion, Union Minister of State for Statistics and Programme Implementation Rao Inderjit Singh, Haryana Industries Minister Rao Narbir Singh, Minister of State for Sports Gaurav Gautam, MLAs Laxman Yadav, Anil Yadav, Dr. Krishan, Om Parkash Yadav, Bimla Chaudhary, and Saini Sabha President Manoj Saini, Shashi Bhushan Saini, along with a large number of distinguished persons, were present.
