Students should be job creators, not job seekers – Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh

Chandigarh, April 30 – Haryana Governor Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh  urged academic institutions across the state to align their curricula with industry needs and emerging technologies, asserting that the ultimate goal of education must be to produce innovators and entrepreneurs who can drive Haryana’s transformation. He emphasized that our students should become job creators rather than job seekers.

The Governor was speaking at a high-level event organised by the State Support Mission and Swarna Jayanti Haryana Institute for Fiscal Management (SJHIFM) in Panchkula today. The event showcased key strategic initiatives aimed at strengthening industrial innovation, preserving state heritage, and transforming education governance in Haryana. First Lady of Haryana, Smt. Mitra Ghosh, was also present at the occasion.

Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh emphasised that Haryana has every potential to emerge as a premier knowledge and innovation hub, and that strategic initiatives such as those presented at the event would serve as the foundation for that future. He described “Samarth Haryana” not as a mere slogan but as a guiding philosophy — one aimed at transforming aspiration into achievement through innovation, collaboration and knowledge-driven governance.

A live demonstration of the National Education Evaluation and Validation (NEEV) Portal was conducted at the event. The portal serves as a comprehensive, data-driven platform for monitoring the implementation of the National Education Policy 2020. It enables real-time data collection, performance benchmarking, and analytics-based decision-making across higher education institutions, thereby enhancing transparency, accountability and governance outcomes in the education sector.

Earlier in the programme, Director General of SJHIFM, Dr. Raj Nehru, welcomed the chief guest and presented an overview of the institute’s work, highlighting how SJHIFM is creating a scalable and sustainable model for inclusive development by integrating industry, academia, heritage preservation and education governance through technology and collaboration.
