Chandigarh, April 28 – Haryana Education Minister Sh. Mahipal Dhanda said that ambitious schemes being implemented in government schools, such as Buniyad and Haryana Super-100, have delivered remarkable results. Inspired by the success of these models, similar initiatives will now be introduced in colleges and universities so that more youth can connect with the startup ecosystem, become self-reliant, and actively contribute to employment generation.
The Minister was chairing the 5th meeting of the Haryana Rajya Uchchatar Shiksha Parishad as the chief guest in Panchkula today.
During the meeting, the Haryana Rajya Uchchatar Shiksha Parishad signed an important MoU with the Wadhwani Foundation, which marks a significant step toward promoting entrepreneurship and skill development. On this occasion, the Education Minister also formally released the first edition of the Parishad’s newsletter, the Vision Mission Document 2047, and a booklet containing a brief overview of workshops.
Sh. Mahipal Dhanda said that a comprehensive awareness campaign would be conducted across the state for the effective implementation of the National Education Policy 2020. Under this campaign, teachers in Government Secondary Schools will be sensitized about various dimensions of the policy during morning sessions, while similar programs will be organized in Government Senior Secondary Schools in the afternoon. Active participation of Vice Chancellors and university faculty members will also be ensured in this campaign.
The Education Minister directed that teachers from colleges and universities should also periodically familiarize students of Classes 11 and 12 with the provisions of the National Education Policy so that they can understand new opportunities and possibilities in higher education and make informed decisions about their future.
He said that the role of teachers should not remain limited to imparting academic knowledge but should also include motivating students toward employability skills and entrepreneurship. For this purpose, workshops and training programs should be organized at regular intervals.
He further said that while increasing student enrollment in colleges and universities, focus should also be placed on quality education and global competitiveness. Curricula should be updated according to changing times, and special efforts should be made to attract foreign students. Meritorious and talented students should also be encouraged and honored.
On this occasion, Prof. K.C. Sharma, Chairman of the Haryana Rajya Uchchatar Shiksha Parishad, informed the members that the Parishad has organized several workshops in coordination with various universities, AICTE, the National Board of Accreditation (NBA), and the Higher Education Department. To ensure student-centric provisions of the National Education Policy reach students effectively, posters on various subjects have been prepared and circulated through students’ personal emails as well as through universities. Steps are also being taken to effectively incorporate Indian Knowledge Systems into the curriculum in accordance with the National Education Policy 2020.
He further informed that, in collaboration with the Swarna Jayanti Haryana Institute for Fiscal Management, the National Education Evaluation and Verification (NEEV) portal has been launched. He added that the Parishad has also submitted a proposal to the government for performance-based budgeting to improve university performance. Additionally, a committee has been constituted for establishing an extension centre of NITTTR Chandigarh to strengthen technical teacher training.
The meeting was attended by Haryana Rajya Uchchatar Shiksha Parishad Vice Chairperson Prof. S.K. Gakkhar, State Project Director Prof. R.S. Rathore, Vice Chancellors of various universities, and other officials.
