Instructions Issued to Remove Name Plates and Hoardings in Election-Bound Areas

Chandigarh, April 30 – A spokesperson of the Haryana State Election Commission said that the Commission has taken serious note of information regarding the display of boards and hoardings bearing the names of Chairpersons (Mayors/Presidents) and members on roads, streets, localities, and intersections in municipal bodies where elections have been proposed.

The spokesperson said that such displays constitute a violation of the Model Code of Conduct. Taking serious cognizance of the matter, the Commission has issued directions to the concerned Deputy Commissioners to ensure strict compliance with the Model Code of Conduct.

They have also been instructed to direct the officials of the respective Municipal Corporations, Municipal Councils, and Municipal Committees to immediately cover or remove all such boards and hoardings with immediate effect.
